The concept is based on the dichotomy of the Japanese culture and the paradox of the Okinawan locale, particularly the International Street while maintaining the familiar display of harmony. The seemingly alter ego personalities and ethos are at the heart of our design. Our vision for the hotel collective is casual, comforting, aspirational, and communal, yet at the same time glamorous, exciting, and provocative - an instant escape right in the middle of a vibrant, gateway city bursting with commercial exuberance.
We began with the premise that the people who stay at Hotel Collective will access the rest of the building as easily as if it were their own. We see that the hotel collective caters to a cultivated person, a bourgeois of our time, who vacations with a style and counts Okinawa as their sanctuary away from home. Consequently, the style of the interiors reflects the transient nature of a port city; yet, the rich and illustrious past of Okinawa is told through the wide-ranging collection and eclectic decor and palette.
